What’s New at the Patient Channel?

In response to your requests, The Patient Channel has added very important "must see" TV to its lineup to help patients understand their role in preventing unnecessary readmissions. Avoiding Hospital Readmissions will increase any patient's understanding of their role as they transition from hospital to home. The second half of the program concentrates on tips specifically for patients with heart failure or heart disease. Experts from AHRQ, The American Heart Association are featured, along with patient and physician stories shot on location to help engage viewers in the context of speeding their recovery and overall quality of life.

The Patient Channel provides10 diabetes programs a week for patients on a wide variety of diabetes topics.

New this quarter:

  • dLife: Nerve Damage and Treatments. This program explores peripheral neuropathy and the latest treatments available, how to be prepared for low blood sugar and an Asian inspired shrimp dish.
  • dLife: Ethnicity and Diabetes is also new this quarter. African-American, Native American and Latino populations are more prone to diabetes. This episode follows two families coping with diabetes. In addition, dLife takes a trip to the Essence Music Festival where diabetes education is an important topic of discussion.

Check the program schedule for air times. We've also posted the programs at thepatientchannel.com. Click here and select the diabetes category to read program descriptions and access programs and transcripts on line.

Subscribing hospitals have spoken, and we listened. To increase frequency of playback of recovery and wellness programs on The Patient Channel, we have reduced the total amount of time devoted to parenting programs. All the programming is still playing, but instead of four times per day to view parenting programs, we now offer two.

Additionally, the Baby and You schedule handout will no longer be printed and distributed, but we will continue to make the parenting schedule available online. If you want to distribute a separate schedule just for new parents, you can print the on line schedule for your facility. Click here to view the schedule online.

As a reminder, the Wellness Network offers a dedicated channel of parenting programming, called The Newborn Channel. There is a special offer and significant discount for Patient Channel subscribers who wish to make a dedicated channel of programming available to new parents.

For about a year, The Patient Channel has offered a customizable version of our channel for facilities who want to customize the playback of our programming and add their own content and branding. There is simply no cheaper, easier way to leverage every TV in your facility to reinforce the messaging and brand of your organization to patients and families.

Click here to view a short video videotaped on location with Willis-Knighton Health System, one of the earliest systems to take advantage of this opportunity.

If you would like to learn more about a Custom Patient Channel approach to assist in achieving your organization's strategic priorities. Please contact the Customer Care line at 888-219-4678, for more information.
