What is The Patient Channel?
The Patient Channel, founded in 2002, is the largest closed-circuit health information network in America and has grown to become the nation’s largest in-hospital TV channel serving over 1,600 hospitals. A 24-hour a day patient education network, the channel focuses on the most common conditions and general wellness topics with more than 50 credible and trusted programs for patients and their families.
The Patient Channel is a division of the NBC Digital Health Network, part of iVillage Networks under NBC Universal, which focuses on the multi-platform distribution of premium health video reaching millions of consumers. Utilizing the robust original, condition specific and healthy living videos created weekly across NBC to provide its over 50 distribution partners and its direct-to-consumer web portal, HealthVideo.com, with content that creates an informative viewing experience for the millions of users looking for health information.
NBC Digital Health Network also includes the Newborn Channel, founded in 1992, which produces baby care and postpartum programming for new parents in over 1,000 hospitals nationwide. In addition, NBC Digital Health has partnered with Joint Commission Resources since 2007 to produce and distribute content for health professionals as well, with over 500 subscribing hospitals across the United States.
